Men’s mental health matters.
Yet, when it comes to wellbeing spaces such as sound baths and meditation, men can sometimes feel that they’re not really “for them”. I’ve spoken to men who have said they would feel awkward attending a session where they were one of only a few men, surrounded by lots of women.
And I think that’s a shame.
Men can benefit from quietness, stillness, connection and emotional release just as much as anyone else. Having the opportunity to slow down, switch off from everyday pressures and simply be in a safe, supportive environment can be incredibly valuable.
That’s why I’m exploring the idea of men-only sound baths and drum circles — creating a space where men can come along without feeling out of place, try something different and experience these evidence-informed wellbeing practices for themselves.
There’s no expectation to talk, share or “open up”. You can simply turn up, get comfortable and see what it feels like.
An experiment in Ipswich
This is currently very much an exploration. I’m interested in finding out whether there’s a genuine appetite for men-only sound baths and drum circles in the Ipswich, Suffolk area.
If this is something you’d be interested in attending — whether you’ve experienced a sound bath or drum circle before, or it would be completely new to you — I’d love to hear from you.
Get in touch and let me know what you think.
