Why we offer zero gravity chairs in sound baths

Comfort, Without Compromise
Sound healing works best when your body can fully let go. That’s hard to do on a hard floor if you’re dealing with pain, mobility limits, or recovery.
Most sound baths default to mats on the floor. It’s the traditional setup, and for a lot of people it works fine. But for others, it’s the reason they never come at all — not because they don’t want the experience, but because getting down onto a mat, staying there for an hour, and getting back up again just isn’t realistic or comfortable.
That’s why we offer zero gravity chairs at every session — something you won’t find at most sound baths in the area.
## What a Zero Gravity Chair Actually Does
The chairs recline into a supported, weightless position: legs raised slightly above heart level, spine evenly supported, no pressure points. It’s the same principle used in recovery and relaxation settings well beyond sound healing, and it means your body can properly settle instead of quietly working to stay comfortable for an hour.
For a sound bath specifically, that matters more than it might seem. The whole point of the session is stillness — letting your nervous system settle into the sound without needing to shift, adjust, or brace against discomfort. A body that’s distracted by an aching back or a stiff neck never fully gets there.
## Who This Has Made a Difference For
We’ve welcomed guests to the chairs who are:
– Managing limited mobility, including elderly guests for whom getting down to and up from a floor mat is the real barrier to attending- Living with chronic back pain that makes floor mats uncomfortable or unmanageable- Recovering from surgery, including back surgery- Going through or recovering from cancer treatment, where fatigue and sensitivity make traditional setups difficult- Dealing with ongoing neck issues that a flat mat doesn’t support well
If your body needs a bit more support to relax, we’ve got you.
## Why We Think This Matters
Wellness spaces don’t always think about who they’re quietly excluding. A mat on the floor is a small thing until it’s the reason someone doesn’t come — and sound healing has a lot to offer people managing pain, illness, or recovery, so it feels wrong for the format itself to be the barrier.
Offering proper seating isn’t a workaround or an accommodation tacked onto the “real” experience. It’s simply what lets more people access the same thing everyone else in the room is getting.

Comfort, Without Compromise

Sound baths work best when your body can fully let go. That’s hard to do on a hard floor if you’re dealing with pain, mobility limits, or recovery.

Most sound baths use or suggest yoga mats on the floor. It’s the traditional setup, and for a lot of people it works fine. But for others, it’s the reason they never come at all — not because they don’t want the experience, but because getting down onto a mat, staying there for an hour, and getting back up again just isn’t realistic or comfortable.

When I had someone come along who mentioned that they needed to sit on a chair all I had at the time was access to fold out chairs at the venue. Although the participant said she was comfy I could see she couldn’t fully relax, so I started a hunt for a comfortable chair that was easy for me to transport. After some research and discussion with friends I decided on zero gravity chairs and bought a pair. They have been such a success that I have recently bought another two so I can offer more people the chance to enjoy the benefits of sound baths.

What a Zero Gravity Chair Actually Does

The chairs recline into a supported, weightless position: legs raised slightly above heart level, spine evenly supported, no pressure points. Which means your body can properly settle instead of quietly working to stay comfortable for an hour.

And for a sound bath this ability to be comfortable is so important. You need to be able to relax properly for the full benefits and if you are constantly moving and shifting and battling against discomfort and pain then your nervous system just can’t let go and the benefits of the sound bath can’t be achieved.

Who This Has Made a Difference For

I’ve welcomed guests to the chairs who are:

– Managing limited mobility, including elderly guests for whom getting down to and up from a floor mat is the real barrier to attending
– Living with chronic back pain that makes floor mats uncomfortable or unmanageable
– Recovering from surgery, including back surgery
– Going through or recovering from cancer treatment, where fatigue and sensitivity make traditional setups difficult
– Dealing with ongoing neck issues that a flat mat doesn’t support well

If your body needs a bit more support to relax, I’ve got a solution for you.

Why I Know This Matters

It can be really easy to have the best instruments, lighting and a beautiful venue and completely forget the importance of adequate comfort for the participants. Sound baths have a lot to offer people who are managing pain, illness or recovery and these are the people I really enjoy providing for.

Offering proper seating is what lets more people access the same thing everyone else in the room is getting.
